Activities at Snapper Park & Bay View

Snapper Park is located in a small township called Bay View, just off SH2, 4km north of Napier airport.  It is a lovely beachside township with a great community feel. The Bay View beach is fine shingle & because of the steep slope gets deep quite quickly. This makes for excellent fishing - surf casting or contiki.  In fact last Labour Weekend (2009) we held a Contiki Contest which was so successful that we are hoping to make it an annual event.  The beach is generally safe for swimming but depends on the conditions.

We have access to the Rotary Pathways fantastic for walking or cycling with terrific scenery, if you don’t have a bike we have a tandem for hire.Bay View has some great local business within walking distance or a short drive from our park definitely worth checking out!

We recommend Crab Farm Winery just across the main road, 2 minutes walk away for it’s cosy atmosphere, tasty cuisine and friendly staff.  They offer lunch and tastings and are open for dinner on Friday nights.

The Orchard Store is also a 2 minute walk away, offering fresh fruit and vegetables as well as other locally made products as well as the renowned Rush Munroe’s Ice Cream!

Bay View has a small village 2km’s north of the park with a 4square, video store where they accept casual members, Take Away shop and a hotel/pub.  You will also find Takaro Trails, a cycle and mountain biking tour company.  Speak to Jenny and she will help you choose the best tour or package for you!

Esk Valley Estate is a couple of km’s north of the village, where you can try and buy some of their award winning wines.
